The memory foam is said to provide support to the body without creating pressure points. Using weight and body heat, the foam adapts to the sleeper.

Memory foam has found its way into other types of mattresses including those using traditional innerspring designs and air adjustable beds. Innerspring mattresses are still the most popular choice among consumers. In recent years, mattress manufacturers have combined the traditional innerspring with latex and polyurethane foams to create a new generation of mattresses. It is quite common to find mattresses that utilize an innerspring core, wrapped in foam and topped with various densities latex and polyurethane foams.
